Pi day Pigeon Popping!

It's finally spring! And with the nice weather what better thing to do than head out for some shooting. All and all I shot like shit. Not sure what my issue was, just couldn't maintain a groove. Hell even the ace marksman Jeff had a few misses this time.
We shot a few rounds and had some fun with pistols. Scott made us some steel targets that are working out quite well for that purpose. Once we wrapped up the main event we pulled up the chairs for a little sit down trap shooting.
It was a fantastic day of shooting and fun was had by all, now here are the results:

First Shoot of the year

Well it didn't take too long since our last gathering to get out again. I must say to that the weather was much more pleasant this time too. It was damn near 40 degrees out! Still plenty of snow on the ground, but that didn't stop us. We got the shovels out and cleared a path for the thrower. Also had some fun pistol shooting. Had an old friend join us as well.

Let's run down some numbers then, we had 4 hand guns 4 shotguns and 2 rifles this outing. Jeff had his new 9mm that was fun, didn't shoot it too much myself. Skippy also had a new 9 himself that we popped the cherry on. As for myself I had my new shotgun to shoot again, and boy was it fun. I didn't share this time. I'll have to make more of an effort of it next time. It performed great though, some of the little hang ups from the last time I had it out were totally gone. That made me very happy indeed. I'll talk more about them once we get around to our UGI gun reviews.

We did keep score, though not as well as we normally do. Here are the numbers!

Still Cold Out

For those of you that are unaware, we're located in the Chicago area. I mention this so that I can better illustrate the weather condictions. They suck. We did manage to have an almost nice day to do some shooting about a week or so ago. Would have likely just forgone it but, we had a new shotgun to try out! A ruger red label. So we can just add that to the list of guns that we plan on writing up reviews for. Here is a picture of it in the mean time.
[EDIT]
Blogger's mobile app seems to have some issues uploading posts with photos. So the pictures will have to wait.

Winter is here

Well winter is here again, or it's at least very close. Hoping to get at least one more outing in but the weather doesn't seem to want to cooperate. We did manage to get out to the farm a couple weekends ago to fire off a few rounds. Mostly just cleaning out what we had left of clays. Another gun has been purchased by a member, I'll likely get more into what it is once we start doing some UGI gun reviews.
It should be understood that these will not be traditional reviews. They will be our reviews. Meaning it'll be about how we feel about the gun, and well... not totally sure. I just know our aim won't be to have a typical review. (gun pun)

Labor Day Shooting Extravaganza!

Well I supposed it'd be more accurate to say Labor Day Weekend Shooting Extravaganza. First some numbers:  3 .22 Rifles, 3 handguns, and 4 Shotguns. We fired off a couple hundred .22LR rounds, about a hundred 9mm, a handful of .45ACP, I'd guess somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 12ga shells, and a lot of dead clays.

Not all games were scored, in fact most weren't. After a bit of warm up, and just shooting around really, we were ready for Round 1. A simple trap shooting round, each took turns shooting 5 times each, till we had shot 25 times. Here are the results:

As you can see Jeff and Anthony cleaned shop. I should mention that what we call a perfect is 5/5 in a turn. The next round we introduced an idea my brother came up with last time we were shooting. A second shooter. If the first person misses then the second gets a chance at the clay and it is worth 2 points if hit. The second shooter would rotate so that everyone got a chance to "clean up" after everyone else.

This round I did a lot better, very happy with that, even before the bonus points. Once again Jeff dominated. This was a lot of fun and definitely added a neat twist to the scoring. After this Anthony and his dad left and we decided to have a "chair game" quite simply we lined up the chairs, each took a seat, and one person worked the thrower. This was an absolute blast, if you'll pardon the pun. Much laughter was had by all.

Next event was a little "GET OFF MY LAWN!!!" I've got videos of that. The semiauto shotgun didn't seem to fare to well at this event. But brother Scott was a fast as ever on his Mossburg. That brief event out of the way we moved on to some target shooting with the .22 bolt action. Here are the results:

Once again Jeff wins. I was a decent second though. I'll be working on uploading some videos later, so at the very least you'll know what get off my lawn is.
